The O’Malleys #4

by Katee Robert

Find The Book At ~ Amazon | B&N | Goodreads
Publisher ~ Forever (Grand Central Publishing)
Genres ~ Contemporary Romance

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katee Robert delivers the next book in her sizzling O’Malleys family series, hailed as “The Godfather meets Romeo & Juliet.” FORBIDDEN PROMISES features Sloan O’Malley and her mysterious new next-door neighbor, Jude MacNamara.

Some lines should never be crossed . . . not even for love.

Sloan O’Malley just left her entire world behind-her family, her wealth, and even her real name. For the first time in her life, she’s free. She can live the “normal” life she’s always wanted. A life without fear. But there’s nothing safe about her intensely sexy next-door neighbor.

Jude MacNamara has no room for innocence in his life. Only revenge. Still, he’s never been able to walk away from the forbidden, and Sloan–who is every inch of pure, mouthwatering temptation–has forbidden written all over her. Only after it’s way too late does he discover the real danger: claiming Sloan as his puts a target on her back. To protect her, Jude is willing risk everything . . . and to hell with the consequences.

I am cheering Sloan’s move of leaving her mob family behind. This mousey woman finally allows her backbone to come out in this book #4 of the O’Malley series showing the reader a woman who finally comes into her own. The author slowly unravels Sloan’s hard won independence and it is done with great finesse keeping the reader interested in how this book will end. The reader will continually cheer each time she overcomes another obstacle.

For all those readers, out there who like alpha men, meet Jude MacNamara. Just wow! That being said I was quite mesmerized with the thought of how the author could turn this stone killer into a man worthy of Sloan or any women for that fact. Bravo…..job well done. I came to love Jude and become his staunchest fan.

Sloan’s family members are very prominent in this book and her sister Keira is one out of control girl. When her story comes, it will be explosive because with all of her problems I can’t help thinking it will get real messy before it’s done. Her older brother seems to pull on my heart strings. I keep justifying what he does no matter how bad and the next book will be his story and I am excited for it to come out.

As in the previous book to this series the reader will be amazed at how the author through a series of wicked twists and turns come to a resolution that is very satisfying. For this reason, I give it 4-1/2 STARS.

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Katee Robert learned to tell her stories at her grandpa’s knee.

Her 2015 title, The Marriage Contract, was a RITA finalist, and RT Book Reviews named it ‘a compulsively readable book with just the right amount of suspense and tension.”  When not writing sexy contemporary and romantic suspense, she spends her time playing imaginary games with her children, driving her husband batty with what-if questions, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.

REVIEW of the exciting ~ turned by a TIGER by Felicity Heaton

Sportochick’s Musings ~ Author Felicity Heaton continues to dazzle the readers with this 12th book to the Eternal Mates series.

turned by a TIGER
Eternal Mates #12
by Felicity Heaton
Find The Book At ~ Amazon | B&N | Goodreads
Genres ~ Paranormal Romance

On the verge of bleeding out and hunted by his merciless torturers, Talon has no choice but to seek sanctuary at Underworld, a nightclub run by a jaguar shifter liable to kill him on sight for being a tiger shifter male. What he finds in the old warehouse isn’t the grim shadow of Death though but an angel of mercy, one who offers him salvation and revenge—one who happens to be his fated mate.

Tending bar at Underworld is never dull when you’re a mortal surrounded by immortals, but when a gorgeous tiger shifter covered in blood stumbles into the club, and set’s fire to her boss’s temper, Sherry’s entire world is in danger of being turned on its head. Something about the mysterious warrior has her stepping in to save him, something that ignites her heart and stirs her soul, and no matter how fiercely she fights it, she can’t hold herself back.

When Talon reveals the name of his captors, and his plan to head back in to save his friends, will Sherry be brave enough to embrace the feelings he stirs in her and step deeper into the world of immortals? And will Talon be strong enough to resist the lure of Sherry to protect his family’s secret or will he risk everything to claim his eternal mate?

Author Felicity Heaton continues to dazzle the readers with this 12th book to the Eternal Mates series. I have read this whole series and it is quite unique how she continually writes each book with such detail as well as blending in characters from earlier books of this series. There is nothing repetitive about her books and I look forward to each new story with anticipation.

In this story, Sherry is the female primary character and it is good to finally read her story. The fact that she finds someone to defend and standup for ties in with what we have come to know about her personality in previous books. She displays both uncertainness and strength in a manner that is believable for the reader grabbing their attention and creating a desire for her to have a happy ending.

Sexy Talon is larger than life in not only what he survives but how he goes forward to help others even at the risk of death for himself. He is portrayed as someone needing redemption for what he believes is his failures. I like his commitment to make right his supposed wrongs also his strength to endure everything coming at him. If any hero deserves to be loved it is this tiger.

I give it 4 stars for the great ending and all the emotions it brought out while I read it.

Amazon | Amazon UK | Kobo | B & N | iBooks

Once again the author Jax Jillian writes a beautiful emotion packed story that will make you cry while feeling warm and fuzzy inside. This author is the queen of feelings and love letters and she did not disappoint me with this beautiful written love story created within a tragedy.

There is not much I can say that will not give away this story so I will talk about how it made me feel. Sad, fearful, hopeful and finally heartfelt thanks.

As I read the story I admired Jillian for her dedication to Nathan and her desire to make sure he lived. Nathan struggled so much and at no time did he appear pathetic or not believable in his actions. There was a mystical feel to Nathan and Jillian’s relationship which does get explained further in the book but it works so well that the reader will start to feel pained by the turn of events and want so desperately for this story to have a happily ever after.

It was written with deep emotions and the flow of the story was executed with a beautiful finesse.

I give this 5 STARS and will always read any book by this author because she knows how to make me cry is such a beautiful emotional way.

Jax Jillian

Jax Jillian was born in Albuquerque, NM but before she turned a year old, her parents moved east to Harrisburg, PA where she was raised. After graduating high school in 1995, Jax attended La Salle University (1999, B.A., Communication), Temple University (2001, M.Ed, Sport & Recreation Administration), and Central Pennsylvania College (2005, A.A.S, Physical Therapist Assistant).

She settled in Philadelphia, PA with her husband and son before she became a writer. Jax found a passion for motion pictures at a young age when she remembers “getting lost” in films, and that passion ultimately led her down the path to writing. she loves “getting lost” in her writing and particularly loves writing heartfelt love stories with a touch of tragedy which she believes is the key to truly reaching readers.

Jax is the author of Larkin’s Letters and Ryan’s Letters, two contemporary romance novels that have seen early success from reviewers, with both averaging 4.8/5 stars on Amazon and Goodreads. She is currently writing her third novel and aspires to write a screenplay one day.

When not writing, she works full time as a physical therapist assistant and as a mom to her three-year-old son.

#USofBooks~ Jim the Boy~North Carolina

125US of Books

Guest Review by Laura at (

This week takes us to North Carolina. Entertainment Weekly says – “A boy named Jim come of age during the depression in a secluded North Carolina hamlet where the state’s history looms large and maps of the Confederacy still hang in his classroom.”

baseballboygif Jim the Boy by Tony Earley is a sweet tale of a young man that begins on his 10th birthday and ends on his 11th. Jim Glass has a mother and three uncles that raise him in tiny Aliceville, North Carolina. Jim is an ordinary boy, obsessed with baseball, fascinated with the train that comes through the town, and palling around with his friend Penn. His father died just before he was born and he relies on his uncles for his manly needs and his mother for love and comfort.

It was very interesting to me how the location played almost a separate character. Earley ensured that the landscape was detailed and well described.

The closer they drew to the mountain, the more uneven the land became. White outcroppings of quartz began to spill from the red banks along the side of the road. The road pitched up and down over short, steep hills, on the sides of which clung upland farms. Corn and sweet potatoes and small, cash patches of tobacco and cotton grew in terraced fields that carefully followed the contours of the hills.

Jim is a character that is simple and sweet. He feels deeply and is not afraid to show his emotions. I particularly enjoyed the internal dialogue he had while trying to figure out what to say to a boy stricken with polio. The vivid descriptions and picture of a small, mostly idyllic, town made me enjoy the book more than I thought I would. This was a quick read and while I enjoyed it, I will not read the second in the series as it did not suck me in enough.

[icon name=”fa-star”] Favorite lines – Once Amos died, Jim’s father would become as ancient and faceless as a man in the Bible, a man walking away until he is finally impossible to see. Once Amos was gone, Jim would be alone in the world in a way he had never been alone before.
